Serial flash memory scheme of embedded SPI NOR FLASH memory chip

1.Introduction of embedded SPI NOR FLASH memory chip
GT25Q20C-U provides a storage capacity of 2Mb(i.e.256K bytes),and its internal organization is 512 programmable pages with 256Bytes each.It also supports 4KB sector erase,32KB block erase and 64KB block erase operations,which is convenient for firmware partition management.NOR FLASH memory chip is powered by a single power supply,and the full voltage range covers 1.65V to 3.6V.It can be compatible with two mainstream logic level systems,1.8V and 3.3V,and does not need an additional level conversion circuit,which is beneficial to simplifying PCB layout and reducing BOM cost.In terms of clock frequency,the device supports fast read operation up to 90MHz(under the condition of load capacitance of 30pF),and with standard SPI,two-way SPI and four-way SPI interface modes,it can meet the code prefetching and execution in place(XIP)requirements of most embedded systems.

2.Performance of embedded SPI NOR FLASH memory chip
The operating temperature range of the NOR FLASH memory chip GT25Q20C-U is set to–-40°C to+105 C,which meets the A2-level temperature class requirements of automotive electronics,and is suitable for scenes with limited thermal management such as engine compartment,ADAS camera module and 5G outdoor small base station.In terms of data retention ability,NOR FLASH memory chip promises a data retention period of 50 years under typical working conditions,and at the same time,the endurance of erasing reaches more than 100,000 times,which ensures that the system still maintains the stability of the electrical characteristics of the memory cells during frequent firmware upgrades or logging operations.
 
3.Application of embedded SPI NOR FLASH memory chip
In consumer scenes such as TWS headset,AMOLED screen driver and TDDI touch display integrated chip,the small package size(commonly used DFN or SOP8)and low standby power consumption(typical value of 1A)of GT25Q20C-U can effectively extend the battery life of portable devices.In the vehicle dashboard,BMS battery management system and industrial inverter,its wide temperature and anti-interference performance become the main selection basis.Supporting XIP mode enables the chip to directly map the code space,reducing the system RAM occupation,thus reducing the startup delay of the main control chip.Compared with similar imported devices,GT25Q20C-U provides more complete protection granularity in the same voltage range,and the domestic supply chain ensures the delivery stability,which can be used as a reliable alternative for SPI NOR FLASH memory chips.
