1.What is PSRAM?
PSRAM,that is,pseudo-static random access memory,is essentially a special memory with DRAM memory cells(1T1C structure).PSRAM simulates the simple interface of SRAM by integrating the self-refresh controller inside the chip,which makes it unnecessary to deal with complex refresh timing like traditional DRAM when accessing from outside.The memory particles in PSRAM are similar to those in SDRAM,and need to be refreshed regularly to keep the data correct.For the host processor,the access mode of PSRAM is almost the same as that of SRAM-directly addressing and reading and writing data,and all refresh operations are automatically completed by the internal controller in the background.Therefore,PSRAM provides a convenient interface similar to SRAM while maintaining the characteristics of high storage density and low cost of DRAM.
2.Where is the psram memory chip applied?

(2)Based on DRAM technology,the structure of PSRAM memory cell is simple,and the storage density can be much higher than that of SRAM(which usually adopts 6T structure)under the same chip area.Therefore,PSRAM can easily provide tens of MB or even hundreds of MB,and the unit cost is much lower than that of SRAM with the same capacity,which is helpful to reduce the material cost of the whole machine.
(3)The power consumption of PS RAM is similar to that of SRAM when reading and writing actively.However,because it relies on capacitors to store data,it only needs periodic micro-refresh to keep data in standby state,and the overall power consumption is lower than that of SRAM that needs continuous power supply to maintain data.This feature is especially important for battery-powered portable devices,which can help extend battery life.
